Over the past couple of years, the SLOHS attendance has become much more rigid. The new code has become way more strict, obviously leading to less teens skipping school.
A lot of people disagree with this new policy that states that the parent or guardian must state before lunchtime that the student will not be attending at all or for the rest of that day. The reason for this disagreement is that for one unexcused absence, you are forced to go to Saturday School. Previously, three unexcused absences result in Saturday School. Also, students are arguing that their parents might not be able to contact the school. We hope this conflict will be resolved, as many people are unhappy.
